Abby Kelly named Dynamic Women butterfly art winner

Chickasaw citizen Abby Kelly, 18, of Marlow, Okla., is the Chickasaw Nation Butterfly Art Contest winner for the 2020 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation Conference.

Ms. Kelly used colored pencil and ink to create her butterfly.

The winning butterfly logo is used in all artwork and promotional materials for the 2020 Dynamic Women of the Chickasaw Nation Conference. The artist receives a $500 cash award along with a winner’s certificate.

Ms. Kelly attends Marlow High School and is a concurrent student at Cameron University in Duncan. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society.

She is a certified electronic systems associate level one and 4002 electronics assembler. In 2016, she and her art class helped paint a mural in Marlow.

Ms. Kelly is involved in the stagecraft program at Marlow High School, where she creates play sets and scenery for the local drama department.

Her future plans include attending the University of Central Oklahoma to obtain a bachelor’s degree in forensic science.
