Chickasaw legislators, justice to take office Oct. 2

Chickasaw Nation Election Secretary Rita Loder has announced results of the July 25, 2017 general election.

Pickens District Seat 2 incumbent legislator Connie Barker, of Marietta, received 1,578 votes to defeat challenger Michael Thomas Watson, of Ardmore, who received 583 votes.

Pontotoc District Seat 3 will be filled by J. Lisa Impson, of Ada, who received 2,321 votes to defeat Kymberly Hazlett, of Purcell, who received 737 votes.

Tishomingo District Seat 3 incumbent Steven Woods, of Davis, will retain his seat as he was unchallenged.

Pontotoc District Seat 4 will be filled by Dr. Karen Goodnight, of Goldsby, as she was unchallenged for the seat.

Incumbent Supreme Court Justice Cheri L. Bellefeuille-Gordon, of Sulphur, was unchallenged and will retain Seat 3 on the court.

Elected officials will take the oath of office Monday, Oct. 2.

Seat 2 - Michael Thomas Watson, Ardmore – 583 votes (27%)

Seat 3 - J. Lisa Impson, Ada – 2,321 votes (75%) - winner
Seat 3 – Kymberly Hazlett, Purcell – 737 votes (25%)

Seat 4  Dr. Karen Goodnight, Goldsby – no challenger - reelected

Tishomingo District
Seat 3   Steven Woods, Davis – Incumbent – no challenger - reelected

Supreme Court
Seat 3   Cheri L. Bellefeuille-Gordon, Sulphur - incumbent – no challenger - reelected
